Quick answer
The Blood of Dawnwalker has three documented romance options: Anca, Lacra, and Crake, who is also called Marat. PC Gamer's post-release route testing reports that Coen can pursue all three in the same playthrough. Romance is driven mainly by completing each character's questline and choosing romantic dialogue when it appears, not by selecting a partner from a menu.
This page gives the spoiler-light roster and route entry points. The individual romance guides cover the quest order and important choices for each character.
Choosing and tracking a route
Use the Romance Route Navigator above to compare relationship backgrounds and reveal only the checklist you need. Checkmarks are temporary personal notes, not a test of your save or proof of romance eligibility.
Externally reported: PC Gamer and PowerPyx document the romance scenes. Official confirmation: Bandai Namco's character profiles establish identities and backgrounds; they do not publish these route requirements. Neither a complete cross-route schedule nor an exact minimum set of choices is established here.
For travel between objectives, pair your selected character guide with the map and exploration checklist. Check the current quest in your journal before planning travel; a region name alone does not show whether a personal quest is available.
Route summaries
Anca
Anca is a longtime presence in Coen's life. Bandai Namco describes her as having guided him, taught him to read, and carried something unspoken between them. Her romance can begin during the prologue through Withering Away: Page Turner, then continues through her longer personal chain: Echoes of Silenced Bells, Between the Words, Where Old Devils Lie, and Stronger Than Achilles.
Her route offers several explicit flirt and confession opportunities. Players who want it should use the optional prologue opportunity if still available and continue accepting her quests rather than assuming the relationship will advance automatically. The dedicated Anca route guide keeps the choice order separate from this spoiler-light hub.
Lacra
Lacra is a vrakhir who claims to have come to Vale Sangora to eliminate Brencis. Her route is attached to a substantial sequence beginning with A Friend Like This, followed by The Song of the Mountain, Hive and Seek, Our Rotten Roots, and The Night of Horrors.
The route can be reached through more than one earlier story path. Current testing reports that the Kobold decision in Hive and Seek does not block the romance. The critical romantic opportunity comes late in The Night of Horrors, so abandoning Lacra's chain early is the larger risk. See the Lacra route guide before that finale.
Crake, also called Marat
Bandai Namco's official directory names the rebellion leader Marat. Release-build guides also call him Crake, and PC Gamer explicitly identifies the character as “Crake (or Marat).” They are not separate romance options.
His route grows out of the Manumit rebellion storyline. The chain begins with The Firebrand and Shadows in the Woods, then moves through Where Loyalty Lies, What Hunts the Night, What Moves the Dead, Distant Shadows, and the decisive conversation in A Closer Look. Method's testing also notes an Infamy requirement for unlocking the rebellion questline. The safest approach is to build Infamy, join the Manumits, keep Crake alive, and finish the quests that explore his history. The Crake route guide explains the name difference and prerequisites.
Can you romance more than one character?
Yes. PC Gamer reports that all three routes can be pursued in one playthrough. The available evidence does not establish a forced exclusivity choice, a jealousy system, or a penalty for starting multiple routes. Do not assume that means every scene is automatic: each chain still has its own quest prerequisites and romantic responses.
What choices matter?
The clearest shared rule is simple: follow the character's personal quests and take the unambiguous flirt, care, confession, or kiss options. Some dramatic story decisions that appear related are not romance lockouts. For example, PC Gamer reports that the final choice in Echoes of Silenced Bells does not stop Anca's route, and the Kobold decision in Hive and Seek does not stop Lacra's.
Other choices are more consequential. Crake can be killed during his storyline, which obviously ends his route. Lacra's intimate scene depends on the Mandrake choice at the end of The Night of Horrors. Anca's route expects the player to return to her chain and follow through on the confession established in Stronger Than Achilles.
Does romance change the ending?
Romanced characters can be reflected in late-game or epilogue material, but this guide does not claim that romance selects a specific main ending. Route completion, faction choices, and final-story decisions overlap, making simple cause-and-effect claims unreliable. Use the individual guides to preserve each relationship, and treat broader ending outcomes as a separate system.
Before committing time
The game's narrative clock advances only when marked actions spend time, but romance quests can still compete with other priorities. Keep a manual save before a character's final personal quest, read dialogue carefully, and do not use third-party speculation about hidden approval values. The strongest release evidence describes quest-based routes with explicit dialogue opportunities, not a visible romance meter.
Romance is therefore a cluster rather than one checklist. Start here for the roster, then use the character guide that matches the relationship you want to protect. For broader choice consequences, pair this page with the endings guide and walkthrough hub.
