Who is Lacra?

Bandai Namco describes Lacra as a vrakhir who came to Vale Sangora to eliminate Brencis, or at least claims that is her purpose. That gives her and Coen an immediate shared enemy without making her a straightforward ally. Her route explores that uncertain cooperation through a connected series of quests rather than a standalone romance menu.

How to start A Friend Like This

PC Gamer documents two ways to reach Lacra's opening quest.

The direct route is to defeat Ambrus during The Gilded Gauntlet and read the note on his body. That note points toward A Friend Like This.

The alternate route runs through Ocha's storyline. Help Ocha become the boss during The Heart Wants What It Wants, then ask her about possible allies. Visit Vicho and complete A Study in Crimson; Vicho will tell Coen about Lacra. PowerPyx likewise identifies Ocha's path as a hidden, missable chain that feeds into the Lacra-related quests.

These are alternate entry routes, not two separate romances. Once A Friend Like This begins, continue Lacra's personal chain.

Lacra romance quest order

1. A Friend Like This — discover Lacra through Ambrus's note or the Ocha and Vicho route.
2. The Song of the Mountain — follow the lead to the Uriashi enclave. A peaceful resolution to Ocha's earlier path can make access smoother, but current evidence does not establish it as the only valid route.
3. Hive and Seek — when Lacra opens the cave, choose “Now you're just showing off,” followed by “Quite so,” for the documented flirt.
4. Our Rotten Roots — continue with Lacra and explore her history. Viewing her memories despite her warning does not block the romance in PC Gamer's test.
5. The Night of Horrors — eat the Mandrake flower at the end. This is the clearest required action documented for reaching Lacra's intimate scene.
6. Midnight Reckoning — complete the later quest if you want Lacra's questline reflected in the epilogue material documented by PC Gamer.

Choices that do not block the romance

The Kobold decision during Hive and Seek does not prevent Lacra's romance according to the tested route. Choosing to view Lacra's memories during Our Rotten Roots also does not block it.

PC Gamer invited Isbrand during Our Rotten Roots but described the alternative outcome as an assumption rather than a fully reproduced test. For that reason, this page does not promise that every Isbrand variation is safe. If avoiding risk matters, keep a manual save and follow the tested choice to invite him.

The missable Mandrake choice

The decisive documented step is at the end of The Night of Horrors. Eat the Mandrake flower. That opens the sequence in which Coen can drink Lacra's blood and accept the romantic interaction. Refusing that action is not documented as an alternate way to complete the same scene.

This is more important than trying to optimize every earlier dialogue response. Follow the entire chain, take the obvious flirt in Hive and Seek, and preserve the Mandrake decision with a save.

Does Lacra romance determine an ending?

The available sources connect completion of Lacra's later questline to epilogue presence, but they do not prove that the romance alone selects a main ending. PC Gamer reports that completing through Midnight Reckoning is sufficient for Lacra to appear in the epilogue even without pursuing an ending with her. Keep romance completion, personal-quest completion, and main-ending selection as separate conditions.

Can you romance Lacra and Anca or Crake?

Yes. Current completed-route reporting says Coen can pursue all three romance options in one playthrough. No exclusivity penalty is documented. The practical challenge is completing each quest chain within the narrative-time structure, so prioritize the character quests and save before their final choices.
