Is the 30-day limit always counting down?
No. Time is spent by marked activities and choices rather than passing continuously during ordinary exploration.

The Blood of Dawnwalker
The 30 days are a spendable narrative resource, not a real-time countdown. Normal exploration does not continuously drain it; quests, training, fast travel, and marked choices can spend segments, and active timed objectives use journal icons.
Coen has 30 in-game days to save his family, but those days do not disappear simply because the player stands still or explores. Bandai Namco describes time moving forward when quests are taken on, and the official community AMA clarifies the system as a resource attached to meaningful activity. Think in costs and commitments rather than real-world minutes.
This distinction removes pressure from ordinary exploration. You can inspect a path, look for manuals, climb towers, gather supplies, and learn a region without watching a constant deadline. The decision point comes when the game marks an action with a time cost.
Quests and Court Activities can consume segments. Some dialogue choices, training or learning abilities, and fast-travel confirmations can also carry a displayed cost. The exact amount should be read from the current prompt because activities differ. Do not infer that every quest costs a full day or that every short action is free.
Official skill documentation states that improving abilities can require both skill points and time. This creates a real tradeoff: a new technique may make later fights easier, but learning every available skill is not automatically efficient. Collect manuals during free exploration, compare upgrades, and study only the options that serve the current build.
PowerPyx's launch walkthrough identifies three important markers. An hourglass indicates a time-sensitive objective. A sun marks content tied to daytime, while a moon marks nighttime availability. Read these before starting another quest or switching form.
Many activities are reported to remain available until started, but some active steps can fail after their timer begins. The prologue also contains timed material. Because branches and patches can change context, keep manual saves and treat the visible journal state as more reliable than a generalized online checklist.
Time controls more than quest availability. Human Coen uses Witchcraft during the day; Vampirism awakens at night; Swordmastery works in both forms. Locations and objectives can permit different approaches depending on the state. A sun or moon restriction is therefore both a scheduling signal and a build consideration.
Plan several compatible actions in one state. If a daytime quest, a witchcraft manual, and a human interaction sit in the same region, group them. At night, use vampire movement and combat tools for objectives suited to that form. Avoid spending time changing plans repeatedly without gaining progress.
At the start of a planning cycle, separate active timed objectives from untouched opportunities. Resolve the real timer first. Next, pick one vassal or personal storyline to advance. Fill the route with free exploration, tower scouting, supplies, and manuals. Finally, reserve time for learning the few skills needed for the next difficult encounter.
PowerPyx reports that a direct Court Activity route can reach the story conclusion in roughly 7–10 in-game days, leaving substantial room for side content. Treat that as one tested route, not a required pace or completion guarantee. Narrative choices and exploration goals vary.
The endings guide documents “Time Runs Out” as a bad ending. That makes the deadline consequential, but it does not justify rushing every decision. The official premise is built around being unable to help everyone, so a coherent set of priorities is more faithful to the system than attempting every marker without regard to cost.
Use multiple manual saves before large expenditures or active timers. See the walkthrough for the Court framework and the save guide for a recoverable slot strategy. Exact route details remain player- and branch-dependent.

Rebel Wolves' official community AMA and Bandai Namco materials establish the resource model. PowerPyx's launch walkthrough supplies labelled interface findings about hourglass, sun, and moon icons and activity costs.
No. Time is spent by marked activities and choices rather than passing continuously during ordinary exploration.
The official design says Coen cannot help everyone. A completion route can cover much, but priorities, timers, and consequences mean the game is not designed as a consequence-free checklist.
