The Blood of Dawnwalker

Bosses and Boss Order Guide

Quick Answer

The three main vassal targets are Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe; PowerPyx recommends that order by level range. Defeating them draws out Brencis as the final campaign target. Optional creatures such as the Ravenous Bear are separate encounters.

Main bosses and optional creatures are different lists

The central campaign is organized around three vampiric vassals: Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe. Completing Court Activities raises each target's anger, eventually opening that vassal's duel. Defeating all three draws out Brencis, the vampire who abducted Coen's family and the final target of the main campaign framework.

That sequence should not be confused with every named enemy in the open world. Special encounters, quest bosses, monsters, and creatures such as the Ravenous Bear add fights outside the four central names. Launch-week video compilations can help identify them, but their labels may mix mandatory and optional encounters. This guide therefore does not claim a definitive total.

Recommended order: Ambrus, Bakir, then Xanthe

PowerPyx's walkthrough recommends Ambrus first, Bakir second, and Xanthe third. Its route labels Ambrus for level 1 or above, Bakir for level 20 or above, and Xanthe for level 25 or above. These figures are third-party route recommendations, not visible official level locks. A practiced player or a different build may choose another sequence.

The order is useful because it gives early exploration and side quests time to supply levels, manuals, equipment, and skill points before later vassals. If one region's Court Activities align with your current route, it can still be efficient to make progress there rather than following the recommendation mechanically.

Court Activities unlock each duel

Vassal fights do not appear simply because Coen reaches a number. The Court menu tracks disruptive activities tied to each ruler. Completing them raises anger and eventually triggers a boss-fight quest. Towers reveal nearby activity markers, helping you group objectives without wasting travel.

Court Activities spend time segments, so read the cost before clearing everything in sight. PowerPyx reports that focusing only on this central structure can finish the story well inside the 30-day limit, but that does not mean side quests are valueless. They can provide experience, teachers, manuals, and context that make a duel easier or change the meaning of the run.

Preparing for the first vassal

Treat Ambrus as the first campaign benchmark rather than proof that every earlier creature must be defeated. Establish a reliable Swordmastery defense, collect recovery resources, and learn how your daytime Witchcraft or nighttime Vampirism complements the sword. Make a manual save before accepting the duel quest.

Official combat guidance emphasizes reading windup, anticipation, and swing frames. Use assisted omniblocks if directional defense is still distracting, then counter only after recognizing the opening. Do not assume a slow high-damage weapon is best if its recovery exposes Coen to a follow-up.

Bakir and Xanthe preparation

By the recommended Bakir and Xanthe ranges, a build should have a round-the-clock base plus a stronger day or night specialty. Manuals gate sword and witchcraft techniques, while corruption opens higher Vampirism access. Check these gates before spending story time on training.

The named order does not supply a universal strategy for each phase. Equipment, difficulty, time of approach, and patches can change the experience. Use the independent all-bosses video as visual orientation and a quest-specific guide for a move that is causing trouble, while preserving a save in case an active objective is timed.

Optional example: the Ravenous Bear

PC Gamer documents the Ravenous Bear during “Into the Den.” It is useful evidence that major creature encounters exist outside the three-vassal structure. Its tested solution belongs to that quest and should not be generalized to every large monster. Optional bosses may reward exploration, but spending resources or time on one remains a player priority rather than a campaign requirement.

For fundamentals, use the combat guide. For the campaign around the vassals, use the walkthrough. After all three, protect a manual save before proceeding into the endings setup.
