The Blood of Dawnwalker

Best Weapons and How to Get Them

Quick Answer

Consider The Kingslayer for block-focused swordplay, The Hand of Fate for daytime Witchcraft support, and the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai for a heavy quest-weapon goal. These are playstyle picks, not a universal DPS ranking.

Which weapons are worth pursuing?

Choose The Kingslayer for defensive swordplay, The Hand of Fate for Witchcraft support, or the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai as a heavy quest-weapon project. The shortlist is deliberately small: each entry has a documented weapon type, acquisition route, and relevant effects.

These are editorial recommendations based on release-game item records and walkthroughs, not a claim that one weapon wins every damage test. Pick a combat loop first using the best builds guide, then pursue the matching weapon. Acquisition discussion includes minor side-quest spoilers.

The Kingslayer: a block-focused greatsword

Type: greatsword. Recommended for: defensive Swordmastery and players who already like slower swings.

Gamer Guides records bonuses to the perfect-block window and stamina gained from perfect blocks, alongside reduced attack and Omniblock stamina costs. Those effects make it our defensive pick, rather than a claim about the highest possible damage.

How to get it: follow Treasure Map: Boar's Back to its hidden chest. Gamer Guides also lists the Svartrau Silver Trader as an alternative, but explicitly warns that vendor stock is partly randomized and refreshes over time. Do not plan around a guaranteed purchase on your first visit.

Our advice is to choose this weapon when stamina and block consistency are your bottlenecks. It is less compelling if you dislike greatsword timing: a useful effect does not cancel an attack animation you struggle to manage. Practice its rhythm before committing more points to a counter-focused setup.

The Hand of Fate: a Witchcraft-supporting shortsword

Type: shortsword. Recommended for: daytime casters who want their weapon to support ability use.

Gamer Guides lists improved passive and action-based activation-charge restoration, reduced Witchcraft cooldown, and increased Witchcraft ability damage. That combination is why we recommend it for a spell-oriented build rather than labeling it the strongest pure melee sword.

How to get it: the item record identifies a chest in the corpse-strewn Soldier Camp near the Riverside Trail Shrine. It also lists the Svartrau blacksmith as a possible seller, with the same warning about variable inventory. Use the camp route as your exploration target; treat shop availability as an alternative, not a promise.

Choose it when you are actually spending your daytime fights casting. Its Witchcraft-specific advantages do not make nighttime magic available. Maintain a night plan and compare the item against what you are currently carrying rather than replacing a comfortable weapon solely because this one appears in a guide.

Imbued Sword of St. Mihai: a heavy quest goal

Type: greatsword. Recommended for: players willing to complete a multi-stage weapon quest and commit to slower attacks.

VULKK's September 15 walkthrough documents the final imbued weapon's critical, supernatural-enemy damage, and Swordmastery cooldown bonuses. Our recommendation is to treat it as a progression goal, not an essential opening pickup.

How to get it: begin A Monk and a Saint with Albertus in the northern Middens and recover the hilt from the cathedral crypt. Continue the shard hunt: the route covers Maragir Wealds, the area between Boar's Back and Rock Hills, and the St. Tyna's/Tantari trail that leads to soldiers holding a shard. Bring the pieces to Uriashi's blacksmith for reforging. The final imbued version additionally requires the tempering sequence at the ruins northwest of Uriashi's Hermitage, including its encounter and ritual. Merely finding the hilt is not enough.

Official Hotfix 1.0.2 fixed Uriashi's blacksmith crafting a holy sword. If an old walkthrough describes a blocked crafting step, update the game before assuming the quest route is impossible. That patch note is a crafting fix, not evidence of a weapon damage buff.

Short, long, or great sword?

Official Swordmastery material confirms different sword sizes affect attack speed. Make that practical: compare how often you can finish an attack and recover safely, not just the number shown on the equipment screen. This shortlist is not a complete catalogue of every sword type.

For faster-feeling weapon play with a magic focus, try the shortsword option. For deliberate defense or a heavy quest reward, consider the greatswords. Neither is compulsory. The combat guide covers the underlying defense and spacing decisions without turning them into an equipment tier list.

Before spending on a replacement

Check the exact item name, current level, listed effects, and the abilities you actually use. Gamer Guides notes that its weapon values scale with level; copying a single damage number into a permanent ranking would be misleading. This page therefore does not publish a base-damage table, DPS ladder, drop rate, or armor-set combination.

Keep the weapon you can use consistently while collecting a quest item. Do not stall your first run waiting for a shop roll. If an appealing effect depends on an ability you have not unlocked, consult the skills guide before spending points to force the pairing. An equipment recommendation is useful only when it fits your current route and form.
